My name is Aldo Mattioli from northern New Jersey USA. I am currently part owner of Crispy Critters Hobby Shop and Raceway located in Fairfield NJ for the past 20 years and a custom RC painter.
At the track I see tons of over heated motors, broken fans, stupid fan locations and so many other problems that cause over heating. The Kooler came about by myself seeing a need for better motor cooling
Most of todays 4wd buggy’s have the fan mounted behind the motor blowing on the end bell.
How does this take advantage of all the cooling holes in all the present motor designs? It doesn’t. I just knew with all those cut outs we needed to get the fan over those cut outs to squeeze as much power from the motor without over heating them.
In 4wd buggy racing we push these little motors super hard. Max timing in the motor, bumping up the radio epa, high output HV lipo’s, boost, timing everything makes heat. So now we solved the heat problem and added motor longevity from running much cooler.
A side benefit for some is the much cleaner layout of the electronics. Without the fan behind the motor the esc fits perfect back there. Much shorter motor wires are needed and battery leads fall perfectly on the battery far away from the spur gear.
I talked to my friend Robin about what I wanted to do. So with the help of a handful of racers who gave up there race cars for a few weeks, I sent the buggies to the engineer in South Carolina. After many version of the design I believe it was 7 version to get it how I wanted we now have the finished product The RcKooler was born.
ALL MCMASTER CARR HARDWARE FOR INSTALLATION IS INCLUDED
The RcKooler with all hardware is a mere $24.99 including shipping to the lower 48.Tekno kits come with 6 m3 x 16 counter sunk screws and 4 m3 lock nuts.
All other kits come with:2x M3 x 16 button head2x M3 x 14 counter sunk2x M3 x 14 button head2x M3 washer2x M3 lock nut
Your new Kooler comes with all the hardware needed for install. Please see the photos for typical motor tab placement. Some motors will need to be rotated. Tekno owners use the 4 m3 x 16 cs screws and the 4 lock nuts to mount the fan. The remain 2 screws are to mount the Kooler to the car. All other mounts you have the option to use 2 or 4 screws to hold the fan on. I see most people with just the 2 top screws. There are 2 m3 x16 button head and 2 washers to hold the Kooler the the center diff mount.
If you install your esc in the rear all wires will need to be shortened. If esc is kept in standard location the battery wires may need to be lengthened. Either way installation is very simple each mount is custom fit to your car.
If trimming is needed your hobby knife will work perfect.
Guys i can make you custom Koolers with your track name printed on them.
You will also receive a great margins on the Koolers. At my track within 2 weeks everyone is using them. Carpet and turf tracks will benefit the most from the Kooler since the demand on the motor is higher.
